Hugh Possingham, University of Queensland
Dr. Hugh Possingham is a Vice-chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow and Professor at The University of Queensland, and the Queensland Chief Scientist in Australia. He is a widely-recognized global leader in the development and application of the ecosystem approach for the Great Barrier Reef, and previously served as Chief Scientist of The Nature Conservancy, the world’s largest environmental non-government organisation. He has had a long and distinguished career developing mathematical and economic tools for solving nature conservation problems such as where to place protected areas and determining the most efficient actions for saving threatened species.
