This conference focuses on the freshwater ecosystems and resources of the African Great Lakes. We welcome participants who wish to give presentations which fall under one or more of the following themes for this conference:
- Impact of 25 years of GLOW on health and management of Great Lakes of the world
- Adoption and implementation of ecosystem approach for healthy lakes and livelihoods
- Status and trends of African Large and Great Lakes’ health and resources
- Multiple stressors: climatic events, invasive species and eutrophication (HABs)
- Food web ecology, dynamics, monitoring, and trophic linkages
- Fisheries management and emerging aquaculture in relation to value chains, food and nutrition security
- Advocating fact-based Integrated Lake basin management (ILBM) for driving the blue economy
- Lake monitoring in support of community involvement, adaptive governance, regenerative action, and pragmatic catchment planning
- Riparian social-ecological systems and lake management
- Generating crossdisciplinarity among African Great lakes science for the application of systemic solutions
- Water as leverage for long-term cooperation, partnerships, and resilience
